Treasure hunters confirm they have found something abnormal in the seabed
STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 15, 2012
The Ocean X Team dove down to the circle-shaped object in the Baltic Sea and met something they never experienced before. First they thought it was just stone or a rock cliff, but after further observations the object appeared more as a huge mushroom, rising 3-4 meters/10-13 feet from the seabed, with rounded sides and rugged edges. The object had an egg shaped hole leading into it from the top, as an opening. On top of the object they also found strange stone circle formations, almost looking like small fireplaces. The stones were covered in something resembling soot.
“During my 20-year diving career, including 6000 dives, I have never seen anything like this. Normally stones don’t burn. I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions “, says Stefan Hogeborn, one of the divers at Ocean X Team.
The path to the object itself can be described as a runway or a downhill path that is flattened at the seabed with the object at the end of it.
“First we thought this was only stone, but this is something else. And since no volcanic activity has ever been reported in the Baltic Sea the find becomes even stranger. As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver“, continues Peter Lindberg, one of the founder Ocean X Team.
Right now, scientists are examining samples from the circle-shaped object, and experts in sonar imaging are processing data from the ship to hopefully shed more light over the mysterious object.
The reports that the information has been taken from is in Swedish. Some Swedish members of the Facebook Group are saying that the image you see of the pile of rocks is not the object, but is in fact a pile of rocks that are ON TOP OF the object. Why this was not made perfectly clear earlier is not obvious.

I dont’ understand why you’re so confused. The translated press release clearly states they found stones on top of the object, stones placed in a rough ring like a ‘fireplace’ and covered in soot. I’m not swedish and I can clearly read that in the translated press release. Also, how you are mistaking a ring of stones for the sonar image of the large 60m wide solid object makes me laugh out loud! Read the press release and use a little bit of common sense before casting all sorts of crazy aspersions about the video footage!
A recent interview in the Swedish newspaper Expressen sheds some light on the matter. After the initial find, the guys contacted an American team of producers to strike some kind of TV deal but various issues were cropping up delaying decisions. Subsequently Titan Television AB decided to step in and provide the guys with a full PR package and seize the deal for themselves. Lolo Westerman of Titan Television explains that their PR team took over the Ocean X-Team website, restructured it to help it attain a higher commercial value and produced the TV trailer. As the entire thing transformed into a TV production, participants were told to not talk about any factual details. What they were allowed to disclose had to be accompanied by the various hints at the “object” being highly mysterious, radioactive and so on. Of course, these were calculated attempts to mystify it further for PR reasons while still not being outright deceptive (re. the radioactivity this was blatantly obvious, as I have explained before in another comment). Clever move.
In the interview Peter Lindberg however goes on clarifying that the objects in question are indeed composed of normal rock, albeit in a peculiar arrangement. The larger formation is not a single piece but a cluster of large irregularly shaped rocks with diameters of 8 to 25 feet forming something akin to a circle. These rocks are heavily eroded, sporting smooth surfaces with parallell grooves, reminiscent of typical Scandinavian glacial erosion and other forms of heavy erosion. On top of these and scattered around them are smaller rocks. The hole in one of the larger rocks is described as being nearly a foot wide. He adds, as you might expect, that he’s never seen anything like it and so on. However, this isn’t too interesting. What’s interesting is what the geologists say. The previous “magnetic” comment, which in fact had nothing to do with real magnetism but was just a cleverly formulated metaphor (“it almost looked like it was magnetic, like it had attracted smaller stones”) gets somewhat rehashed here as well. This time the satellite phone didn’t work and he speculates it had something to do with a “magnetic field”. Again, this is either purposefully ignorant or just naivety. If there was indeed a field strong enough to disrupt electronics on the surface above it, they would have had a hard time getting anything done at all in this expedition. Not to mention that such a magnetic anomaly would stand out quite significantly in surveys and therefore be well known by now. You don’t get field strengths like that even being surrounded by HVDC lines in all directions. Another “innocent” statement that frankly seems solely designed to generate some more of this internet buzz.
And then Lindgren talks about their upcoming expeditions, namely to look for a Swedish merchant ship that was sunk in 1916 carrying crates of the highly sought-after Crystal champagne and the remains of a Russian ship allegedly carrying three Fabergé eggs. These are high profile things and no doubt will this current PR circus prove to be most helpful in terms of attaining decent coverage, fame and of course acquiring the necessary funding. This is the kind of thing Ocean X-Team wants to do, and for these next adventures time they’ll probably have another TV-crew with them. Success.

we are also following the hole thing with OX. And we have an overview about martimtraffic about the hole situation at Nortälje (Sweden). Home harbor. But it’s clearly a rock formationen.
Thats a very important thing left in the translation of the articel ! It was a big fail but the hole PR thing was the point of nonsens. Serveral newspapers want to get some pictures, but after talking to Dana Press and Scanpix it was also clearly that they want to make much money as they could for some pictures. So the newspapers and Media decided to buy nothing. In accordiance with experts. So maybe they will find someday something really cool. But for now their image is blasted. (PR Fail).
There are several experts dicovering the baltic sea around nortälje with MultiBeam 3d Sonar. But they make hydrographic resaerch. It’s they first time that the baltic sea would be scanned. They will find lot’s of cool stuff the upcoming months. We must wait.

THE MOST LIKELY EXPLANATION SO FAR!!
Today the Swedish news paper Expressen posted an article where a retired submarine officer points out that what Ocean X team has found is likely a Nazi submarine trap. The Nazis as well as the British constructed submarine traps where they put up enormous steel wire web traps to stop submarines. The circular concrete like base with a entry hole on top is by the article believed to be the concrete base where the wire would be attached. At the current time the wire would have corroded so it is natural that the bases are left.
If this eventually will be proved to be the explanation i guess there would be another similar circle where the other end of the wire would have been fixed.
From previous reporting I remember seeing an image where there is a long straight path leading up to the circular mushroom base. Could this be the steel wire web that lies on the seabed now covered by sand or mud but still resembling the path of the steel web in the submarine trap.
